Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Do I need soccer experience?
No. This is built for adults at every level — from people who haven't played in years to those who currently play recreational soccer and want structured training.
What if I haven't played in years?
You're exactly who these sessions were built for. They're designed to ease you back into soccer fitness and technique, not to test you against people who never stopped playing.
Do I need to be fit before I start?
No. Fitness builds through the sessions themselves — the soccer is the workout.
Can beginners participate?
Yes, in the 30+ and 50+ Soccer Fitness programs. Position-specific training (Defender, Midfield & Attacking, Goalkeeper) assumes some baseline comfort on the ball — check each program page for specifics.
How do I find out when a class opens?
Join the waiting list from any class page or Find My Class — it's free, takes a minute, and we'll email you as soon as a class opens. Spots go to whoever signed up first.
Leagues & Format
Is Back2Soccer an adult soccer league?
No. There are no teams to join, no standings, and no season to commit to. These are coached recreational soccer sessions you attend when they fit your schedule — you can book a single class. If you're after league play with a fixed roster, this isn't that. If you want to play regularly without signing up for a whole season, it is.
Do I need to bring a team or join one?
No. You sign up on your own — there's no roster and no tryout. Every class includes 8v8 small-sided games, so you get real game time without having to bring a team.
Age
Do I have to be over 30 to join?
No — classes are open to all adult ages. The 30+ and 50+ programs are paced for those age groups, but there's no strict age requirement to join.
What's different about the 50+ program?
Same soccer-first approach, with pacing, mobility work, and intensity adjusted for an older adult body — without feeling watered down.
Is 40 too old to start playing soccer again?
No. Classes are open to all adult ages, and you don't need to be fit before you start — fitness builds through the sessions themselves. If you haven't played in years, you're exactly who these sessions were built for.
Can I still play soccer in my 50s or later?
Yes. The 50+ Soccer Fitness program is paced for it, with mobility work and intensity adjusted for an older adult body, and beginners are welcome in it. There's no strict upper age limit.
Classes
Where are classes held?
On turf fields around Vancouver. Which field depends on what's available that week, so it varies from session to session rather than being one fixed home ground — every session lists its confirmed field before you book.
How long are classes?
Most sessions run 60 minutes. Clinics may run 60–90 minutes depending on the topic.
How many people are in each class?
Classes are capped at 16 players, split into 8v8 games.
Are classes competitive?
No — small-sided games and drills are structured for fitness and skill-building, not league-style competition.
Do you play actual games?
Yes, every class includes 8v8 small-sided games as part of the workout, alongside technical and fitness work.
Equipment
What should I wear?
Athletic wear suited for outdoor training, plus cleats and shin guards (see below).
Do I need cleats?
Yes, cleats are required for every class, including your free trial. Cleats are not available for rental.
Do I need shin guards?
Yes, shin guards are required for every session. Shin guard rental is available for $2/class if you don't have your own.
Booking
Can I book a single class?
Yes — you can drop in for a single class, or buy a 4-class pack. Registration is required in advance.
Do I need a membership?
No — there are no memberships. You pay per class, or buy a 4-class pack if you'd rather pay ahead.
Can I cancel?
Yes — cancel at least 24 hours before your class for a full refund.
What happens if a class is full?
